Electronic Development and Printed Sensors Group -GED+PS<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The GEDPS is a multidisciplinary research group with extensive experience in screen printing, sensor and biosensor development, and the design of electronic and microelectronic systems for biomedical and industrial applications. Its main research activities are organized into five areas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the field of printed electronics, the group develops sensors and devices using screen-printing and flexographic technologies on flexible and rigid substrates. These include medical sensors (EEG, EMG, and ECG), sensors for smart bandages, biosensors, temperature, humidity, motion, and capacitive sensors, as well as heating elements, electroluminescent devices, and embedded plastic electronics (in-mold electronics). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the area of biosensor electronics, the group develops complete biosensing systems based on electrochemical, capacitive, LC resonant tank, and field-effect transistor (FET) technologies, integrating measurement electronics, the sensing element, and its functionalization with bioreceptors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The group also develops implantable microelectronic devices for controlled drug delivery and irreversible electroporation therapies, powered and controlled through infrared radiation (bio-microelectronics). In addition, it develops electronic systems for biomedical therapies, including electrostimulation, controlled drug delivery, optogenetics for nerve tissue regeneration, and magnetic and optical hyperthermia for cancer treatment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, the group investigates electronic systems for monitoring reinforced concrete structures, focusing on corrosion, macrocell currents, and structural deformation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Miguel Alca\u00f1iz has coordinated the Electronic Development and Printed Sensors Group (GEDPS) since 2018. He has extensive experience in the design of electronic systems in both industrial and academic environments. His research activities encompass the development of electronic tongues, voltammetric platforms for neurotransmitter detection, biosensors, monitoring systems for reinforced concrete structures, and microelectronic devices for therapeutic and implantable sensing applications. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has collaborated with research groups at leading institutions such as UCLA and EPFL. He has participated in 29 public and private research projects, serving as Principal Investigator (PI) in six of them. He is the co-author of 53 scientific papers, 5 book chapters, and 4 patents, one of which is currently under commercial exploitation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
