

Networks and Platforms
IDM participates in several national and international research networks and scientific platforms that facilitate collaboration and provide access to advanced infrastructures.
These partnerships strengthen the institute’s ability to develop interdisciplinary research and promote innovation across different scientific and technological fields:

Several members of the IDM are also integrated into the Spanish biomedical research network CIBER (Consorcio Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red), specifically within CIBER-BBN and CIBER-ONC. CIBER-BBN focuses on the development of advanced technologies at the interface of bioengineering, biomaterials, and nanomedicine, promoting translational research aimed at improving diagnostics, drug delivery systems, and regenerative medicine. In parallel, CIBER-ONC brings together multidisciplinary groups working on different aspects of cancer research, including molecular mechanisms of tumor development, new therapeutic strategies, and innovative diagnostic approaches. The participation of IDM researchers in these networks strengthens collaborative research and facilitates the transfer of fundamental discoveries toward biomedical and clinical applications.

NANBIOSIS is a Spanish Singular Scientific and Technical Infrastructure (ICTS) that provides access to advanced facilities and expertise for the development and characterization of nanomaterials, biomaterials, and systems with applications in biomedicine and biotechnology. The IDM participates in this infrastructure through Unit 26 (U26), contributing its expertise in the design, synthesis, and characterization of functional molecular and supramolecular materials.

In 2016 a joint research unit was created between IDM and the Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria del Hospital de La Fe (IIS La Fe), focused on Nanomedicine and Sensors. This joint unit brought together researchers from both institutions to work on controlled drug delivery, medical imaging, and sensor development, strengthening collaboration between university and clinical research teams.

Also in 2016, the IDM established an other joint research unit with the Centro de Investigación Príncepe Felipe (CIPF), focused on Mechanisms of Diseases and Nanomedicine. This unit extended IDM’s expertise in molecular recognition and functional materials into the biomedical field, promoting translational research on nanomedicines, targeted therapies, and diagnostic probes.

In 2025, the IDM and the AIMPLAS – Instituto Tecnológico del Plástico established a joint research unit in printed electronics to advance research on flexible, hybrid, and integrated printed electronics, as well as chemical and mechanical sensors.

SENTIATECH is a collaborative initiative focused on the development of innovative sensing technologies for biomedical and environmental applications.

SENESCEL is an open and inclusive society for researchers working in the field of cell senescence and with a link with the Spanish community of science

The International Society of Liquid Biopsy (ISLB) is the first international professional organization committed to the improvement and implementation of liquid biopsies in clinical routine practice and the promotion of a multidisciplinary approach for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients based on the use of liquid biopsies.

The EOM (Excelencia en Oncología Molecular) group conducts translational research in molecular oncology to improve cancer diagnosis and treatment through the development of new therapeutic strategies and molecular biomarkers.

INNOTRANSFER is a multi-sector open innovation initiative promoted by the Valencian Network of Science and Technology Parks. The aim of this program is to drive innovation in key economic sectors for the Valencian Community, supporting the challenges faced by the region’s productive ecosystem.
