Welcome

Welcome to the Instituto Interuniversitario de Investigación de Reconocimiento Molecular y Desarrollo Tecnológico (IDM).
The IDM is a joint research institute of the Universitat de València and the Universitat Politècnica de València, created to advance excellence in molecular recognition and to transform knowledge into technologies that benefit society and industry. Our interuniversity nature brings together complementary expertise in chemistry, materials science, biotechnology, medicine and engineering, generating a dynamic environment where fundamental and applied research progress hand in hand.
Today the IDM integrates 16 research groups working in areas such as nanosensors, advanced materials, biomedical technologies, environmental analysis and renewable energy.
This multidisciplinary structure allows us to tackle complex challenges and to become a strategic partner for both public institutions and private companies.
Scientific excellence and innovation define our activity. Our researchers have produced more than 1,400 publications and trained over 170 PhD graduates since 2015. At the same time, we maintain a strong commitment to technology transfer, with over 80 patents, the promotion of spin-offs, and more than a hundred direct contracts with industry.
The IDM is firmly connected to the biomedical and industrial ecosystem. We sustain joint research units with the Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria La Fe (IIS La Fe), the Centro de Investigación Príncipe Felipe (CIPF), and AIMPLAS, enabling the rapid validation of technologies in real clinical and productive settings. Several of our principal investigators belong to the national network CIBER, reinforcing our leadership in cooperative biomedical research. In addition, the IDM is part of the Spanish Scientific and Technical Infrastructure ICTS NANBIOSIS, which provides advanced capabilities in nanotechnology, biomaterials and translational research at national level.
Our ability to attract competitive funding has grown steadily over the past decade, with a significant presence in European programmes, including ERC and MSCA actions. This success consolidates the IDM as one of the most active and emerging centres in our research landscape.
Through our Scientific Unit for Business Innovation (UCIE) and our innovation agents, we work to reinforce collaboration with companies, identify valorisation opportunities and accelerate the transformation of scientific results into real applications. All these achievements are possible thanks to the dedication of our researchers, technicians and management staff, who make the IDM an open, efficient and collaborative institution.
We look to the future with ambition, determined to expand our international reach and to continue generating knowledge, innovation and social impact.
Thank you for your interest in the IDM. I invite you to explore our website and discover how we can work together.
