Itziar Irurzun Arana

Dr. Itziar Irurzun Arana studied biomedical engineering and obtained her PhD in pharmacometrics and systems pharmacology from the University of Navarra. After a postdoctoral fellowship at Mount Sinai in New York, she joined AstraZeneca in Cambridge as a clinical pharmacometrician in oncology. She currently works in GSK’s clinical pharmacology department in the clinical development of drugs for liver diseases and leads a GSK initiative applying machine-learning techniques in pharmacometrics.

Marta Pardo Andrés

Dr. Marta Pardo Andrés is a Ramón y Cajal researcher and expert in psychobiology at the Molecular Recognition and Technological Development Inter-University Research Institute (IDM). Her work studies magnetoelectric nanoparticles for treating Parkinson’s disease. These particles can be directed using magnetic fields and generate a local electric field in response to an externally applied magnetic field in vivo. They are also studied as nanotheranostic agents for solid tumours.

Rui V. Simões

Rui V. Simões

Rui V. Simões is an associate researcher at the Neuroengineering and Computational Neuroscience Laboratory and leads the Preclinical MRI Unit at i3S – Institute for Research and Innovation in Health in Porto. His work focuses on quantitative in vivo characterization of tissue metabolism in disease models, including neurodegeneration and oncology. He has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications and is active in European and Iberian magnetic-resonance research networks.

Jean-Yves Winum

Jean-Yves Winum

Dr. Jean-Yves Winum obtained his PhD in Chemistry at the University of Montpellier in 1998 and completed postdoctoral research at the University of Geneva. His research focuses on organic and medicinal chemistry of metalloenzyme inhibitors with anti-cancer and anti-infective applications. He has published more than 200 articles, a book and 15 book chapters, and received the 2024 Michel Delalande Award from the French National Academy of Pharmacy.
