CV Prof. Ángel Maquieira Catalá

Ángel Maquieira Catalá holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Valencia and is a Full Professor of Analytical Chemistry. He is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Chemistry at the Polytechnic University of Valencia.

He leads the “Signal and Measurement in Chemistry (SYM)” research group at the IDM. His research focuses on the bioanalytical field, particularly on the development of biosensors and optoelectronic devices (micro- and nanoscale) for the study of biomarkers and other analytes of clinical, food, and environmental interest, at both the basic and applied levels.

He also works on the development of nanomaterials (perovskites), the configuration of PICs and biogratings as devices to integrate electronic circuits and optical phenomena at the nanoscale that reduce nonspecific signals, and on the development of wearable materials and biosensors with holographic response.

In terms of scientific outreach, A. Maquieira has published 298 articles (259 in Q1), with an h-index of 49. Over the past 5 years, he has supervised 12 doctoral theses.

In 2013, he received recognition from the Royal Spanish Society of Chemistry (RSEQ) with an award for his research career in Analytical Chemistry.
